3.2. — The second square — types 2, 10, 5 and 8.
Above I present the square of types 2, 10, 5, and 8.
Arrows on the line segments that connect these four types show movement mainly towards Strong Self-Esteem. (This movement is analogical to the movement in the Enneagram towards comfort).
Next, I will shortly describe the above four types creating the first square. Please treat these descriptions only as a brief introduction. Or a small fragment of this, how particular types can look like? In more details, I will gradually describe types of characters in separate works with my studies, analysis, and synthesis.
3.2.1. – Type 2 — Shame, Water, Extraverted Feeling.
Typology | Name of the type in given typology |
---|---|
Enneagram | Type 2—Giver |
Psychological Types by C. G. Jung | Extraverted Feeling Type |
Ancient System | No equivalent (the closest temperament—Phlegmatic) Element—Water Element feature—wet, moist |
3.2.1.1. — Type 2 (Extraverted Feeling) — Conscious State.
In the Conscious State, Type 2 can function brilliantly in places where there are clearly defined rules and laws. Type 2 is able to adapt to these rules and laws better than many other types. Often he likes to know exactly what he can get for following the roles. Clearly, defined benefits can be good motivation for him to act or to do something. But benefits do not have to be material or financial. He can also get satisfaction when he will find out how something is working, how is organized, how is planned, what is hidden goal, etc.
He is really good at sensing what someone likes or does not like? He can sense how to behave in a given situation and a specific place. Thanks to this, he is able to behave in this way that he is not offending anyone. It looks like that he is equipped with a special hidden “radar” for measuring people’s mood, attitude, setup, etc. He is doing it so well that he gives the impression of not being tired of contact with people. And with dealing with various matters, interests, and businesses which he often has with those people. Even when people are making work hard for him, he behaves as if he did not notice it. And he just keeps working. It does not mean that people are not tiring and exhaust him. But he is able to hide his feelings, emotions. So, Type 2 can be suitable in works where there are services for people. For example, waiters, nurses, carers, hairdressers, models, salesmen, advisers, co-workers, team-workers, mechanics, various service workers, etc. The best results he will achieve, if he will like the type of work, and he will have talent for it. Besides, he is able to plan well everything, and usually, he manages to do work on time. Actually, everything under his control is properly: counted, planned, organized, and „buttoned-up”.
In the Conscious State, Type 2 often is very economical. For hours, he can think about how to make other savings. For example, how to do occasional shopping, how to find good promotion, price cutting or in general make a lucrative transaction or deal?
Planning and saving often have a big impact on the everyday life of Type 2. The result of this may be, for example, that consciously he will not allow himself to do something unplanned. So, it may difficult for him to spend money spontaneously. Of course, he can spend money spontaneously, but it will be better if will plan before that he will spend money spontaneously.
Type 2 may also take great care of his appearance if he discovers this tendency in himself. So, he can be very fashionable. And many representatives of Type 2 may love elegance or even sometimes extravagance. Anyway for elegance or good style sometimes he can do a lot. For example, he can buy expensive and branded products, which he later does not even use, or he uses them rarely. But he will gladly boast in front of others that he has these things.
3.2.1.2. — Type 2 (Extraverted Feeling) — Strong Self-Esteem State (Power State)
In the Strong Self-Esteem State, Type 2 often goes to type 8. Then, he tends to behave as if he would be some kind of boss or aristocrat. In particular, he likes to find around him various assistants or even kind of servants if it will be possible. These assistants could “help” him in achieving his needs or goals he considers as important. “Help” I wrote in quotation marks because he actually often uses others or even explores them as much as possible. At the same time, he tries to glamour and manipulates his “helpers” in various ways. By this, he wants to achieve this effect that the person who is being used, will not have the impression that he or she was used. These manipulations usually come to light when a given representative of Type 2 is too stingy. Then, for example, he promises something, and he will not give it, or he will give something else in a worse form. Alternatively, he will give something that is unnecessary for him, and he no longer needs it.
In extreme situations Strong Self-Esteem State, Type 2 can feel like a “gray eminence”. For example, he may like to imagine that everyone serves him (especially important people). It puts him in a good mood. Then, he will use every opportunity to be in a position of “prince” or “princesses”, and feel that he is surrounded by his entourage. Then, it can happen, that he may ask us to hold his expensive brand expensive coat because at the time he needs to find his new costly smartphone in the pocket of his smart trousers. And he may yet give us for a while his valuable smartphone and ask us to take his picture…
We can have a lot of benefits from cooperation with Type 2 when he treats us as a partner and does not exalt or elevate himself in importance. Then, work with Type 2 is fruitful and valuable. Furthermore, work with Type 2 runs in the nice and friendly atmosphere. So, it will difficult to find someone among other types of characters who would be better able to cooperate with us.
3.2.1.3. — Type 2 (Extraverted Feeling) — Soft Self-Esteem State (Vulnerable State).
In the Soft Self-Esteem State, Type 2 often becomes type 10. Then, for example, he suffers when he has planned something and things go against his plan. And he can find himself in a situation where he plans that somebody will do something to him, and that person is not doing it. But then, he does not easily give up. That is, he is not changing his plan. He still tries somehow to make matters to go according to his planned way. For example, he becomes awkward and irritated. Alternatively, he tries to do or say something that someone will change his mind. Generally speaking, he strives to influence somebody or situation to get someway what he wants. And he will use all possible ways that will come to his mind.
Type 2 in Soft Self-Esteem State may have great determination. Thanks to this determination he may achieve a lot in his life. He may, for example, stubbornly and consequently strive to achieve his goals. Even then, when these goals seem to be very difficult to get, and when these goals require a lot of work, time and sacrifice.
3.2.1.4. — Type 2 (Extraverted Feeling) — Unconscious State
In the Unconscious State, Type 2 becomes Type 5. Type 5 is opposite to Type 2. So, Type 2 can behave oppositely, than in his Conscious State. Type 2 in Conscious State takes care of himself and his affairs. But in Unconscious State Type 2 may suddenly stop worrying about himself, regardless of his health, money and his achievements. Then, he is capable of not paying attention to people. He can sometimes even not respect them. He is focused on advantages, and he can treat people as objects which are useful to get what he needs.
In Unconscious State he can lose himself in some entertainments, and it will be difficult for him to stop it. He may also be willing to risk, which in Conscious State he prefers to avoid. He can become generous and spend a lot of his savings.
Under the Unconscious State, Type 2 often enjoys spending time alone, and he devotes to his interests, hobbies, passions, etc. Usually, it is a good time for him to learn some new things, analyze various issues and looking for a solution to difficult problems. Then, when he is solving or discovering something he is getting a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction.
3.2.2. — Type 10 — Sorrow, Earth, Introverted Sensing.
Typology | Name of the type in given typology |
---|---|
Enneagram | No equivalent |
Psychological Types by C. G. Jung | Introverted Sensing Type |
Ancient System | No equivalent (the closest temperament—Melancholic) Element—Earth Element feature—cool, cold |
3.2.2.1. — Type 10 (Introverted Sensing) — Conscious State.
In the Conscious State, Type 10 can be very nice to other people. Furthermore, he is able to make a very good impression on others. For example, he can make an impression of someone who is very valuable, eloquent, wise, etc. He tries to be helpful, and often he has an initiative in giving a proposition of help to others. At the same time, he tries to sense what a given person may need? However, he offers such help, which is matched with what Type 10 considers useful and appropriate. So, by his support, he tries to lead someone to the right way. It means, the way matching to his way of living. Then, he is a kind of guider, missionary, activist, curator, animator, leader, master, etc. The master who leads somebody to the right way of thinking and acting.
In general, Type 10 likes to have a big impact on what is going on around him. And he wants to feel that thanks to him something has changed for the better. He is able to take all the credits for himself, for a change that has happened. He thinks that just his impact played the most significant role. For example, Type 10 can think that he was the one who in the past did or said something to someone. Something that had a decisive influence that someone achieved some successes. Or did something in a particular way which led him to be a good person. So, Type 10 likes to have such a view about himself, that in fact, he was the one who actually “planted the seed from which the good fruits grew”.
Type 10 is a sort of master of manipulation. An illusionist and wizard who tries to amaze people around him. Amaze so great, that they begin to do what he wants, and what is useful in his opinion.
This type can be incredibly useful if he works for a fair cause. Then, he is able to devote himself entirely. And will give for it full of his energy, knowledge, experience and time.
Usually, Type 10 is able quickly to recover from various defeats and failures. As soon as he gets back to himself, he may quickly start to work on improving his methods of operation. He wants to be ready for next time because next time he wants to be more effective. He wants to avoid repeating previous mistakes and previous ineffective ways of acting. Actually, often this of dealing with problems is his way of life.
Type 10 often tries to be up to date, and he wants to know everything about the world around him. For example, men regularly listen to the news, and women gossip about closer and further friends, colleagues, kith and kin, etc.). Many representatives of Type 10 have extensive encyclopedic knowledge. They may also have abilities for works, which require good memory, such as learning a foreign language.
This tape can take care of himself. Usually, Type 10 focuses a lot on his needs. Often he can take pleasure in satisfying basic needs such as food, drink, sleep, physical exercises, etc. If satisfying his needs depends on other people, he tries to manipulate them in various ways to achieve what he wants. But it is not always possible to manipulate other people. Type 10 from time to time can meet people who are very difficult to manipulate, or even he is unable to manipulate them completely. In this case, he can suffer a lot of frustration.
He can be very realistic. Realistic even up to the pain. Mostly, he stays away from fantasizing and being in the clouds. It is often difficult for Type 10 in his Conscious State to believe something uninteresting.
Type 10 usually is very active, and he may not tolerate inactivity. In fact, many representatives of this type, vacation, holidays or annual leaves my not exist. And retirement is actually not needed for him or even not desirable. In the course of inaction, he can become bitter. He may feel like a victim of fate because this fate deprives him of the possibility of acting. He actually always needs to do something for general welfare or well-being. Of course, there are representatives of Type 10 who are lazy and unwilling to effort. But these are probably only those who have not yet discovered in themselves the tendency to work, the effort and readiness to sacrifice.
People from Type 10 who don’t have too much to do may think a lot about how to deal with their problems. And during this inactivity often it is hard for them to find the solution. Paradoxically, in this case, for them better is to start to do something instead to think too much. So, it means, often the solution is to find an occupation. When they are occupied, it is easier to think for them. Then, for them, it is probably right the saying—“If you don’t have enough time, find an extra occupation”.
3.2.2.2. — Type 10 (Introverted Sensing) — Strong Self-Esteem State (Power State)
In the Strong Self-Esteem State, Type 10 often moves to a place where is Type 2. Then he may uninvited, suddenly, out of the blue, start to “deliver his wisdom and teachings”. In his Power State, Type 10 is convinced that he is the most eloquent, intelligent, and even the smartest. He likes to boast about his achievements. Especially he likes to tell stories about how great influence he made on some people or some events. And it seems to him that his influence, on this, what is happening around him is the most significant and valuable.
Type 10 in his Strong Self-Esteem State particularly likes to spend time with people. He easily establishes contacts. He can be very witty or brilliant. Also, he may be helpful, and he seems to be unselfish. It means, he often hides in his mind some interests, which in the future should bring him some benefits. So, he is able to wait for the fruits of his work or his actions.
He willingly uses his knowledge in manipulating people and getting from them what he wants. On the one hand, he likes people he is able to manipulate. But on the other hand, he after some time, he begins to disregard them because of their credulity or blind confidence. So, he is losing respect for them, because they are easy to manipulate. In contrast, Type 10 is dealing with more intelligent people, he tests them in different situations. And he is looking for mistakes which they are doing. He wants to find their weaknesses. When he sees something stupid in them, he can finally come to the conclusion that actually he is the wiser one.
His behavior can sometimes give the impression of lack of meaning, or lack of generally respected social principles. It looks like, that Type 10 is following the principle of many celebrities. It means, no matter what people say about me, it matters that they are talking about me.
3.2.2.3. — Type 10 (Introverted Sensing) — Soft Self-Esteem State (Vulnerable State).
In the Soft Self-Esteem State, Type 10 often moves to Type 5. Then, he may hide in his room or some secluded place. There he is giving himself up to science or all sorts of studies. He absorbs all possible information that is around him. For example, from books, radio, television, etc. Often, if it is possible, he places a radio or television in every room in his home, which he likes to listen loudly. He tries to find something useful for him in this information waves. Something, what will give him knowledge or methods which he will be able to use for making the impact on his environment. Because Type 10, like a boomerang, constantly returns to his desire to extend influence on people and his surrounding. For example, if he is disappointed because he was unable to impress someone, he is withdrawing. Then, he returns to his room or home. There he tries to get and absorb new information from radio, TV, books, articles, etc. Then, he can suddenly appear in front of the person whom before he was unable to convince. And he is presenting new arguments with great energy and intensity. It happens that he is bothering this person to whom he brought his new arguments to the previous discussion. At that moment, Type 10 can not bother too much about whether it is a good time, right moment, right place, etc. Actually, it is even better, because if he can somehow upset this person, then he may feel better. That is, he managed to make a strong impression, which may show his highly influential power.
Incredibly helpful Type 10 can be when he works in some difficult cases and extreme conditions. For example:
- when he is an activist;
- when he is working on challenging tasks that require determination and perseverance;
- when he is dealing with crisis situations in any company or organization;
- etc.
In such situations, Type 10 in one of the best among other types of characters. Then, he can demonstrate, great determination, energy, and devotion. Probably Type 10 as last gives up or becomes discouraged.
3.2.2.4. — Type 10 (Introverted Sensing) — Unconscious State.
In the Unconscious State, Type 10 moves to opposite Type 8. Then, for example, after unsuccessful attempts to influence someone, he may suddenly become tense and hostile. And when he is overwhelmed by these feelings, he can strive to enforce his will in any way. He may then shout, create strong tension and pressure, and try to force someone to do something that he wants. At that moment, he can often do not pay attention to anything. He strives to use various means and methods to catch someone’s attention on himself.
Another from Unconscious State of Type 10 is his lack of caring and disrespect of someone else. For example, it happens that he does not see a problem in entering into someone's privacy. He is even able secretly to search or dig into somebody’s things. He is looking there for some information that he can use to influence that person and thereby get what he wants. He may not see anything wrong in it. When he is caught on this, he will control himself, and he will behave fairly for some time. It will last until he again gives in the temptation of penetrating the lives of others. Often, the reason that Type 10 wants to influence the lives of others is simply that he thinks that he is doing useful and right things.
The penetration the lives of others by Type 10 can also have positive sides. Thanks to this, he is able to discover when and what problems may have other people? And he may find what others need, and he could do to improve their lives?
Many people expect someone to become interested in them. They hope that someone will call or come to them, and show a willingness to help them. Sometimes it is also necessary to force or impose help on others because others are unable to ask for help. Sometimes others also need someone to "pushing" them in some way to take the first step in some direction. In such situations, this type can give great services. He can actually help others and change their lives for the better.
At the same time, it is quite characteristic that for others, it is difficult to influence Type 10. For others, it is hard to impact him. Others may want to give help for type 10. They can be ready to give him help for years. But he will not want to use their help. He will still claim that he is able to deal with his problems himself. He can even be irritated because others help is not right for him. They should give him help there where he wants, not there where others think it is right for him. It means Type 10 may not be willing to realize some issues that others want to show him.
3.2.3. — Type 5 — Fear, Fire, Introverted Thinking.
Typology | Name of the type in given typology |
---|---|
Enneagram | Type 5—Observer |
Psychological Types by C. G. Jung | Introverted Thinking Type |
Ancient System | No equivalent (the closest temperament—Choleric) Element—Fire Element feature—dry |
3.2.3.1. — Type 5 (Introverted Thinking) — Conscious State.
In the Conscious State, Type 5 is very systematic in the work to which he has convictions. He acts according to what he thinks is right. And usually, he does not give up, even under the influence of various unfavorable opinions and sharp criticism of important people from his surrounding. But it does not mean that Type 5 is unable to change his convictions or beliefs. It is fascinating in the character of Type 5 that he can change his views and behavior in a short time. He can do immediate changes, if he will start thinking or believing that it is right, proper, logic, reasonable, etc. However, usually, he does some challenges on his own initiative. His behavior rarely results from the others’ direct influence.
This change of Type 5 is happening, for example, when he decides to act in life according to some philosophy or theory. It means, he can find out in one time that good and right is some philosophy, theory, religion, belief, attitude, etc. Sometimes it is happening because a life situation requires it. Then, Type 5 chooses a new way of acting, which is giving solutions to problems related to this situation.
This is an extraordinary ability. For most of the types of characters, it is much harder to get this skill. Whereas Type 5, if he decides that he should follow an entirely new life rules and ways of behavior, he is able to provide them into his life from day to day. And he is consequent in following this. And he is able to do it even then when new beliefs and principles are completely different from his previous ones.
All in all, Type 5 usually is guided by one live philosophy. When he changes this life philosophy, he is able to adopt it quickly in his life. It means, he challenges his behavior, manners, principles, roles, etc. Often it looks like, that he is converting into a new faith. Next, he keeps his new way of life strongly. He keeps it so strongly, that he does not change it even under the influence of his close relatives. For him right and indisputable it this, what results from his current beliefs and current logic. However, if someone has doubts about it, Type 5 can perfectly prove it according to his current logic and philosophy.
When he is changing his life philosophy and behavior, it can be a big surprise or even shock for his friends and relatives. It is really remarkable his iron discipline or consequence. For example, he can quit smoking overnight, and he is able to resist all temptations and problems that are associated with it. So, this type of philosophy or science to which he is convinced in the given moment of his life is in the first place in his Conscious State.
His actions can often be similar, to the way the hunter works. He constantly penetrates various areas. He does it in both real and abstract sense. By this, he wants to “hunt” or find something interesting. He can, therefore, like to travel in different ways. For example, he can visit new exciting places, and also he can explore various areas of knowledge. In both cases, he looks for something what will be worth paying attention, and what will be worth to follow.
Type 5 often likes all kinds of competition. The competition usually drives him to action.
3.2.3.2. — Type 5 (Introverted Thinking) — Strong Self-Esteem State (Power State)
In the Strong Self-Esteem State, Type 5 often goes towards type 10. Then, for example, he likes to take the initiative and influence people. Like a guide, he likes things to his way. He does this, by trying to use seemingly logical arguments. E.g., not always truthfully he is able to show that someone whom he wants to influence behaves inappropriately. Through this, someone can lose his self-confidence. And, if someone will lose his sense of self-confidence, he will become vulnerable. When someone is vulnerable, Type 5 may influence him in this way, that he will be able to get what he wants. Type 5 is often successful in such actions among others because he is very controlled. Thanks to this, he can be very convincing.
Frequently, Type 5 in his Strong Self-Esteem State can demonstrate an incredible ability to manipulate others. It happens, for example, when he lies. Often when he lies, he is much more credible and convincing than when he tells the truth. So he can be, e.g., incomparable in releasing false rumors that will give a very reliable impression. The motivation for this may be the desire to observe what will happen next? Type 5 can also enjoy the fact that he has a big impact on others. When he is caught that he created false gossip, he often denies or swears that it is not him. And it looks like as if he actually believed it.
Often he does not like too much company around him. The best he feels among people who don't interfere too much in what he is doing, and in what he thinks is right. Type 5 in the Strong Self-Esteem State may also seek occasion to get some material goods and various benefits. Then, he can with the great enthusiasm search for some profitable opportunities. This searching can have different faces. For example, he may tend to:
- various types of lotteries;
- playing on the stock market;
- gambling;
- involvement in a social or political movement that can bring personal benefits to him;
- doing some counseling or to do unconventionally healing which can give him various profits;
- doing work that gives quick and big profits;
- etc.
While searching for some opportunities, he tries to focus on finding a secret or a weak point that nobody noticed earlier. If he succeeds in discovering something, he tries to develop an effective strategy of action. Next, he is using this strategy in life. He hopes that it will lead him to get some profits.
Sometimes, he also takes shortcuts. It means, when he comes across or notice something that can be attractive or useful, he may grab it legally or illegally. When it comes to illegal ways, he can steal something, and then he just starts to think whether it may be useful for him or not?
3.2.3.3. — Type 5 (Introverted Thinking) — Soft Self-Esteem State (Vulnerable State).
In the Soft Self-Esteem State, Type 5 often goes to type 8. Then, he is directed towards certain activities that need deep conviction or belief about something. He often looks for a new philosophy of life that he could follow in difficult and challenging situations.
If he chooses a philosophy or belief, he usually closely sticks to it and strictly obeys. Next, he can hold it tight even in the situation which does not fit to his philosophy. And when, according to common sense, he should not follow his philosophy, at least for some time.
However, this approach can also give great services in challenging situations. In stressful situations, Type 5 is able to focus so much on his task that nothing is able to disconnect him from doing what he does. Thanks to this, he can do some work or activity that needs to be done, despite very unfavorable conditions.
On the other side, when Type 5 being deeply focused on some activity can be harmful. For example, it can happen when Type 5 likes gambling or lotteries. If he sticks too much to his latest strategy or philosophy which can be wrong, he can face big loses. E.g., he can lose a lot of money, time, effort, etc. The reasons for this may be his too big engagement to this what he does at a particular time, and lack of looking at himself from a distance. Besides, being too faithful to some life philosophies can lead to difficult situations. It means, to situations where these philosophies may not fit into reality, or they can be awkward.
Type 5 in the Soft Self-Esteem State may also be interested in activities that will bring to the society new knowledge. The knowledge to which he is convinced that it is right. This attitude of Type 5 can look like spreading a new faith. At the same time, he is also ready to defend his position, even if it will be connected with unpleasant consequences. For example, a quarrel, row, or a fight with someone who will have different views. The reason for this is often this that Type 5 often lacks sense somebody's feelings. It means, he may not feel that he is just putting someone out of balance.
3.2.3.4. — Type 5 (Introverted Thinking) — Unconscious State.
In the Unconscious State, Type 5 moves to the opposite Type 2. Then, he tends to spend time in the company. He becomes more open to the environment. Usually, he has a group of close people whom he can visit and spend some time with them. However, he can also go on a spree in a bigger company. People who have contact with him when he is in Conscious State may be amazed that in the Unconscious State he can be so different.
Type 5 in the Unconscious State may let himself to fulfill some desires. These desires are not necessarily thought through by Type 5. It means, he can buy something that he usually does not allow himself, or he can do something that he usually does not do. In Unconscious State, Type 5 can also start more than usual to take care of himself. For example, buy new things, equipment, gadgets, fashionable clothes, etc.
Under the influence of unconsciousness, Type 5 may show a tendency to practice various kinds of art. E.g., in his spare time, he will devote himself to some artistic activity. Usually, he does this artistic activity in privacy in the home.
3.2.4. — Type 8 — Anger, Air, Extraverted Intuition.
Typology | Name of the type in given typology |
---|---|
Enneagram | Type 8—Protector |
Psychological Types by C. G. Jung | Extraverted Intuitive Type |
Ancient System | No equivalent (the closest temperament—Sanguine) Element—Air Element feature—hot |
3.2.4.1. — Type 8 (Extraverted Intuition) — Conscious State.
In the Conscious State, Type 8 is a kind enthusiast, fan, booster, fanatic, etc. And he can have this attitude in both in the positive and negative sense. If he is convinced about the righteousness of some purpose in his life, he systematically strives to get it. And if he believes in it, he believes that others should also believe in the righteousness of what he believes. All the more, he often has chosen an appropriate philosophy that suits him. And he believes that this philosophy should fit others as well.
All in all, he feels good when he can head to his goal, which he is convinced that it is right. Besides, he likes to have people who will be available when he needs them. Furthermore, these highly available people should have the same beliefs and should follow his guidance. If he does not have highly available people, he can be satisfied with people who let him manipulate themselves. So, they anyway will do what he needs. It can remind a sect or a religious group, where there is a strictly defined hierarchy. This hierarchy must be respected, and there is no doubt that it should be so, not otherwise. And is someone has any doubts, he is an unworthy and false person. So, this kind of people deserve consequences, e.g., they should be excluded or removed from a group, fraternity, company, workplace, etc.
If Type 8 has to depend on someone who is above him, such as at work, he likes hierarchy. It means, he likes very much work in places, where there is a strictly defined structure or hierarchy. This hierarchy should be supported by strictly defined roles, values, strategy, and philosophy. So, the structure of the company can be similar to religious beliefs, where the worker can climb on the career ladder.
Type 8 it is an interesting combination of faith and logic. For example, it is visible during a discussion with him. He can endlessly defend his thesis, and he is able endlessly to present new proofs or evidence which are confirming his thesis. So, it turns out that these theses are sorts of certain dogmas, which must be believed, and that’s it. It makes an impression as if only Type 8 has access to the truth, and the truth is only on his side. There are no other truths except the one in which he believes. So, if he has access to the only “true truth”, he must defend it to the very end. Then, if it will be necessary, it may be no other way than defend this truth by an attack.
3.2.4.2. — Type 8 (Extraverted Intuition) — Strong Self-Esteem State (Power State)
In the Strong Self-Esteem State, Type 8 often goes towards the Type 5. Then, for example, he can be very brilliant and go-ahead. He can have this attitude, especially in matters that may bring him some benefits.
Type 8 takes care of making contacts with various people. He hopes that through these people, it will be possible to get something for himself. He tries to encourage them to cooperate with him, using various sorts of arguments.
Type 8 consistently strives to take control of the environment. He likes to have a leading role. For example, he likes to be a boss, a manager, a team leader, etc. And he often behaves like the boss regardless of whether he works in the team, or he works alone. In both cases, he does everything in his own way, according to the rules and guidelines that he believes. At the same time, often he does not like when others try to suggest or impose some other way of acting. And if others think that something can be done better, than he does, then it is their misjudgment. According to Type 8, it only seems for them that they are right, but they are wrong.
With these traits, Type 8 will be very effective in the works and tasks which must be done. Must be completed without any unnecessary considerations and doubts that do not bring anything important at that time. And when these considerations do not change the fact that something must be done.
3.2.4.3. — Type 8 (Extraverted Intuition) — Soft Self-Esteem State (Vulnerable State).
In the Soft Self-Esteem State, Type 8 often goes towards Type 2. Then, for example, he can be very sociable, talkative and open to making new contacts. He is usually willing and ready to help others. Thanks to this, he can gain a lot of others’ sympathy. Also, he can be very devoted and dedicated. Sometimes he may give the impression of having unlimited energy resources in providing help.
However, the help, that Type 8 often gives to other people, is not unselfish. At the same time, he has an expectation in his mind. He expects others to repay him the same. For example, that they will help him in what he wants to do, and that, they will actively engage in achieving his goals.
Others, however, often do not even suspect that Type 8 has any expectation towards them. Often they actually have not a clue that something is going on. This is because Type 8 rarely talks about his expectation towards others.
Why is like that? Why he is not communicating his expectation?
Type 8 simply considers that it is obvious to others.
Unfortunately, what is evident to him does not necessarily have to be obvious to others. However, he often does not notice this fact. Instead, the lack of willingness of others to give him back his earlier “generous” help, he often takes as intentional ignoring and humiliating him by others.
3.2.4.4. — Type 8 (Extraverted Intuition) — Unconscious State.
In the Unconscious State, Type 8 goes to oppositely located Type 10. Then, he can be unpredictable in comparison with his typical behavior in Conscious State. It means, he can stop to be so “arranged” and systematic as in his Consciousness. Instead, he may follow the rule—“No matter what they say about me, so long as they speak”.
So, Type 8 is trying to catch the attention of others, to what he did, what he is doing and what he is going to do? Often, at the same time, he can create a strong emotional tension. This tension can be difficult to bear for others and above all, difficult to ignore and avoid. It is even possible that he can mince words and acts. In this way, he tries to catch somebody’s attention and get from him what he wants. For example, he may alternatively become pleasant and unbearable. Incredible is the fact that he is often not getting tired in catching attention. It looks like that he has “unlimited source of energy”. He can keep the attention of others focused on him until he will fall down of fatigue, and he will no longer be able to continue. So, it can take a really long time. In this situation, there are two options. Wait patiently until finally Type 8 will be tired, or run away from him. But in the second case, we need to face the fact that he may somehow take revenge on us later. This revenge can happen at any moment. Usually, it is the moment when it will be a complete unwilling surprise for us. Such behavior most often can be met by people who, in his opinion, ignored him somehow in the past.
Generally speaking, Type 8 in the Unconscious State can be friendly and pleasant for those who were previously loyal to him. On the other hand, he can be unpleasant and nasty for those who earlier were not loyal. Whereas, who was previously loyal and who was disloyal, is judged by his personal criteria and own life philosophy. So, others may not have a clue how Type 8 actually works?
His excess of energy in the Unconscious State can manifest in various ways. Often simply he tries to have some fun. This fun is the best for him when he has a company. Usually, he is able to persuade someone to accompany him in his favorite activities or games.
He can be tireless during all kinds of events and parties. This may involve various following consequences. For example, if during the event he uses some stimulants (such as alcohol), it often happens to him that he simply “overdose”. Next, he can be ill, and he needs time to recover.
